Alan Fletcher, is one of my absolute faves. I fell in love with him when I visited his exhibition at the Cube in Manchester. His work is so simple and playful and makes me smile. Even though his work has been around for 50years- it still has relevance and staying power.
Debbie Hill, is an artist I came across when my boyfriend bought me a mini book of hers for Christmas. Her illustrations are simple yet beautifully put together and after visiting her website I ended up adopting one of her hand-made pigeons. I admire her work and love to see what she creates next.
Emily Morgan, is a lovely friend of mine. She has only been set up as an artist for the past 2years and I think her work is gorgeous. I love her abstract landscapes with delicate touches of detail. She is an absolute inspiration to me!
Florence Broadhurts prints, have been around for years. Yet it was only when stylist magazine featured a book covered in her flower print above, that i discovered her. Her prints are so feminine and lend themselves very well to wallpapers. I think my style is quite similar and having her as my inspiration is something to look up to.
Gary Hume, is an artist I decided to follow after his work was featured in VOGUE. Again it is his simplicity that appeals to me but unlike my other inspiration his work is very masculine. I like his choice of colours and bold silhouettes and his blackbirds above are delightful.
Heather Horsley, is a new addition to my likes and found her whilst browsing the internet. Her work is quite illustrative and beautiful. Her use of line and colour, especially in the print above are subtle yet distinctive.
Helen Stevens was discovered in the telegraph weekend magazine, an article featured her wallpapers which are utterly delicious! I have a serious crush on this artist and think her work is amazing. Her choice of line and pattern in her drawings are gorgeous and i'm now following her progress.
Mary Katrantzou is a fabulous designer that has been featured continuously in VOGUE. The way she blends different prints to create beautiful combinations is synonymous with all her designs. She is even collaborating with Topshop to get her designs on to the HighStreet.
Steph Dekker was discovered whilst in the Utility shop in Liverpool. She produces these sweet quirky designs out of vintage fabric and sells them as cards and prints. If I could follow in her footsteps and get my own work displayed in Utility, it would be a dream.
these are just a few of favourite artists of the moment; artists I admire and aspire towards. They also give a flavour of the type of work I produce and if any of them interest you, check out my own website www.corrinedoreen.co.uk
